A Backyard Reception...? Challenge Accepted!!

One thing that astounds me in the modern day is how expensive and over-the-top weddings are. I have heard recently that the average wedding cost in Australia sits at about $65,000. How is it even possible to spend that much money on a wedding?? That is also the average yearly wage in Australia!!! Before my fiance popped the question I never planned to have an excessive wedding. All that matters to me is having an excessively fun day where people enjoy themselves, and at the end of the day IM FINALLY wedded to the one I love.
After many mishaps with locations and not having the money to afford luxury reception venues where everybody gets fed a three course meal at $30 a head, my family, fiance and I thought that maybe we should try out the humble backyard reception after having the ceremony in my grandparents scenic front yard . As a group of highly artistic and creative people, we will be setting ourselves to the challenge of creating a beautiful backyard wedding at a low cost. I would love it if people realized that you do not need to spend huge amounts to make something beautiful, and why not save the money for your honeymoon or even as a deposit for a home..? The more I think about the next few weeks (although stressful), I get more excited about how it will turn out.
I look forward to showing you all photos of our progress and the result. I love to keep things simple, and at the end of the day I will be just as married as anyone else who spent a lot of money. Also did I add that it will be spring and all the plants will be well into their new cycle! However, if you want an expensive wedding, go ahead. I’m not stopping you and will not judge you. It’s just not my personal taste, even if I did have heaps of money. :)
